Laptop falls into water: What to do

It can happen that your laptop falls into water just as your phone can fall into water at any point. These things happen. You don't have to panic. At most times, the damage may be very minimal, as the water may not have actually penetrated the core of the laptop. In most cases, you may just need to unscrew the parts and put them in the sun to dry up. If they are not dried up properly, that can mean problem. And if some parts are affected by dust or scum, you may need to wash those with alcohol. If you don't have the ability to wash the parts carefully, just send it to the repairer. That should do it. Laptop troubleshooting issues: What to do when your laptop won't display

The first thing you can do is to remove the RAM from its slot and clean it, then fix it back there carefully.  When fixing it back, you may try another slot. Don't forget that a bad RAM can also cause your laptop to fail to display. If you have two RAM, remove them, place only one RAM and check the display. If you fail to get any display, change the slot. If the problem persists, try connecting an external monitor to your laptop. Just look for the VGA connector on your laptop. Connect it to the external monitor, then switch on your laptop.

What to do when your laptop doesn't connect to the wireless internet router

You could be using your laptop now on the internet and when the internet router goes off, probably because there isn't electricity, you then try to reconnect when the light comes on. You can see the that the wireless connection is showing on your laptop but you can no longer connect to it. When the laptop comes on and the screen light goes off but the image is very dark, or faint, most likely it's either failed  screen inverter or backlight lamp (CCFL) failure. When either one fail, the backlight stops working. You'll need extra spare parts to work on this. You may need a new working inverter or known good backlight lamp. Laptop Troubleshooting: Battery not charging properly

If your laptop stopped charging like it used to, or it doesn't charge at all, or it charges only after you adjust the position  of the AC adapter plug inside the power connector, and that could be due to failed battery. If your laptop doesn't charge completely at first, try removing the charger from the power socket and plugging it in again. Or  totally remove the charger and the battery from the laptop and connect it to electricity without the battery. If the laptop runs smoothly from the AC adapter, it either has to be the problem of bad battery or failed motherboard.

If your laptop runs fine but after some time it freezes or shuts down without any warning and you find that the cooling fan  runs abnormally, making the laptop super hot, you could check the fan heat sink, to see if it's clogged with dust and the processor is not cooling down smoothly. If you can, simply clean the fan and the heat sink and that should fix it.

If you find that your laptop turns on and everything is working fine, except that it makes noise constantly, it could be due  to due to the fan failing to work. Or it could be a problem from the hard drive. Back up your files and replace your hard drive. Alternatively, you can remove the hard drive and start the laptop. If you turn on your laptop and there's no image on the screen but the cooling fan works, it could be a memory failure. Maybe  one of the memory modules failed. What should you do? 1. Try resetting the memory module to make sure they make contact with the slot. 2. You can also try removing the memory modules one by one and test the laptop with only one module installed. 3. If resetting the modules doesn't work, try removing the hard drive, DVD drive, modem, wireless card, keyboard, etc. 4. There are times that you plug the AC adapter into your laptop and there are no lights. You push the power button, nothing happens. The laptop is dead, makes no sound and no indications of life. Your laptop may have AC adapter failure and the battery refuse to charge. Test the adapter with a voltmeter. If it's dad, buy another one. Also if DC jack failed, the motherboard may not receive any power from the adapter. Replace the DC jack. If the motherboard failed, you have to buy a new one. If it's too expensive, you may have to buy another one.
